In Clinton Township, Michigan, police are investigating a Snapchat video uploaded on Thursday, showing a man repeatedly punching a dog.
According to WxyzNews, viewers who saw the disturbing video emailed it to the Macomb County Animal Control on Friday. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office were able to trace the video to a home in Clinton Township and executed a search warrant, however the shirtless man seen in the video nor the dog were at the home. The man seen in the video had allegedly been dog sitting for the owner.
The Macomb Daily reported authorities went to the man’s home on Friday, but only a dog was there. Animal Control seized the dog.
Chief Jeff Randazzo, for Macomb County Animal Control called the video very disturbing.
“I feel like someone’s holding the dog and then you have the person punching the dog. …Then there’s the person watching and filming, doing nothing to stop it.
You watch this crime being committed and this dog being tortured and then to me, it’s almost as if you proudly put it one Snapchat for everyone to see.”
A friend of the suspect, who videoed the abuse, contacted police and stated it had all been a joke when he posted it on Snapchat, but the outrage was apparent and quickly reported to Animal Control.
