Police in Phoenix, Arizona, are investigating a horrific case of animal cruelty which left a dog dead West Plaza Park. Witnesses claim that two men “aggressively provoked” a loose dog who had been playing with children – one of the men is accused of grabbing the dog’s collar while the other man allegedly grabbed a gun and shot the dog in the head.

The shocking incident took place on January 13 in front of children who were playing at the park near 43rd and Glendale avenues. Carlos Garcia is quoted in Fox News, “My little brother came to the house. He was in the park and told me someone shot a dog. Saw a black dog with white spots next couple days. He was in a garbage can.”

Looking for the suspects

The police have little to go on – the men were merely described as two black males. They had been playing football at the park before setting their sights on the dog.

The authorities are hoping that someone will phone in a tip to help solve this case.  Information can be given to Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. Spanish speakers can leave an anonymous tip by calling Testigo Silencioso at 480-TESTIGO.
