Animal lovers are frantically trying to save 52 horses that are reported to be heading to slaughter – the problem is, the post that is being widely circulated on social media is old. Very old in fact – dating back to 2011!
It is tough to ignore a plea for help – one of the messages being ciruclated reads:
Do you have friends in Ohio? 52 thoroughbred horses need homes. Off to Sugarcreek Saturday for slaughter. Gentleman died and his son wants nothing to do with them. Most broodmares are broke and some are in foal weanling, yearlings, 2 yrs and 3 yrs old.. most are gelded. FREE and papered. Friend of the deceased trying to find homes xxx-xxx-xxxx Barnesville, OH. Please copy and paste this on your status.
Please stop
The original plea includes someone’s phone number…and people are undoubtedly bombarding this poor soul with offers of help and/or questions. But again, this is old – if you find the plea for help in your email inbox, or spot it on Facebook, please ignore and/or delete. Please DO NOT forward it.
According to Snopes, the horses in the original plea for help all found new homes.
This particular request to help the “horses” is being shared like wildfire right now – please do your part to stop the spread of false information by deleting any posts that you see. Thank you!!
