Pitiful senior roamed the streets for months until help arrived

A pitiful senior boxer roamed the streets in rural South Carolina for months. Emaciated, limping, hunched over and covered in fleas and ticks, it has to have been a miracle Petal has survived on her own scavenging for bits and pieces to stave off the pains associated with starvation.

Her story isn’t new. Her owners didn’t care, and one day when she wandered away, no one bothered to look for her.

Fortunately Petal was rescued on Thursday morning, and her angel reached out to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC for help.  Manuela Ela Schafer updated Petal’s condition later in the evening:

“She is starting to eat. She is resting and sleeping a lot, she is very weak and emaciated. Extremely dehydrated. She was covered in ticks and fleas. She has a mass that will need to be removed. This baby is also in heat. She is HW – thank God but she has a very long road ahead of her…”
