A pit bull puppy in Florida lost his life after protecting children from a deadly snake. As reported by Fox 13 News, the eight-month-old pup, Zeus, died after being bitten several times by a deadly coral snake outside of his family’s Sumter County home.

The deadly incident happened on Monday when the Richardson family’s kids were cleaning Zeus’ water dish. The kids did not see the snake, but Zeus did, and he moved in quickly to attack it – in the process, he was bitten four times.

Zeus was rushed to a veterinarian for help, but much to the family’s surprise and heartbreak, the treatment didn’t work. Owner Gina Richardson told the news agency, “He’s been a member of the family. It just killed us. We just knew the antivenom was going to work.”

The family has stated the Zeus was an extremely loyal dog and they are grateful for his final act of bravery. Gina stated:

“If you treat them right, they would give their life for you and I owe my son’s life to him.”

People could learn so much about love and commitment from dogs–but many have NO HEART to open up to them. Many many prayers that this can change.
Rest In Peace, Dearest angel hero Zeus!
