A parrot in Brazil was taken into custody by police after it tried to warn his drug dealer owners of a raid.

“Mummy, police,” the feathered watch bird shouted!

According to NbcNews, the bird started squawking when police officers arrived at its home in  the Vila Irma Dulce neighborhood in Teresina. And so the parrot was taken into custody, photographed and imprisoned in a wire cage until he was transferred to the Teresina Zoo.

Now for the best part of the story as media reporters have taken the facts to the edge. First, there was a report the bird invoked his rights to remain silent, –

“So far it hasn’t made a sound,” a journalist reported. “Lots of police officers have come by and he’s said nothing,” quipped a local veterinarian.

The parrot, named India is owned by a drug dealer who had previously been arrested two times. The bird had been trained to warn his owner. The woman’s husband was also arrested for possession of crack cocaine. The couple’s 16-year-old daughter was found with marijuana hidden in her underwear, but was released with a warning.
