Owners dumped Rosco at shelter stating dog was much older

At the Baldwin Park Shelter, Rosco was surrendered on the Fourth of July weekend by his family. They explained that Rosco had been “mean to their other dog.” Despite the dog’s young appearance, the family claimed Rosco was 12-years-old.

“We’d heard some discussion about Rosco’s real age before we got their permission to videotape. For a larger GSD, Rosco sure looks younger than 12. His older A number is a clue that they might have adopted him from Baldwin Park within the past couple years. Perhaps the family thought that if they upped his age, the shelter would just write him off?,” a volunteer at Baldwin Park Shelter posted on social media.

We were at Baldwin Park Shelter at 6:55pm on July 3rd when Rosco's family surrendered him to the shelter. They explained that Rosco was mean to their other dog. We'd heard some discussion about Rosco's real age before we got their permission to videotape. For a larger GSD, Rosco sure looks younger than 12. His older A number is a clue that they might have adopted him from Baldwin Park within the past couple years. Perhaps the family thought that if they upped his age the shetler would just write him off?!?That could still happen. There are a lot of "last call" dogs at Baldwin Park, and Rosco isn't one of them. Yet. He's a gorgeous, friendly boy who is protective of his owners — though he was super friendly with us and was happy getting attention!Rosco obviously didn't understand how he'd be spending the holiday weekend. Let's not let this be how he spends the rest of his life. There are a lot of “last call” dogs at Baldwin Park, but Rosco isn’t one of them at this time. He’s a gorgeous, friendly boy who is protective of his owners. As one can see, however he was super friendly with the shelter volunteers and was lapping up the attention.

Of course, Rosco had no idea why he would be placed in a kennel cage. He is in desperate need of a home. Fortunately the shelter researched this beautiful dog’s past and gave him back his real age. Rosco is only seven-years-old.

Share this dog’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.

I hope this precious treasure finds a new furever family where he will be treated as a beloved family member ASAP!!!

As for his cruel former so called family, they have reserved spots in Hell waiting for them where they will burn forever for their cruelty……..
