In Edinburg, Texas, a two-year-old dog who appears to much older, waits at the Palm Valley Animal Center for help. A volunteer tells Matt’s sad story.

“A dog tortured by his owners, until they dumped him in a high kill shelter claiming stray! In favor of a new puppy they have chained, starving and sick! Just like they did to him!”

According to the woman advocating for Matt’s rescue, his owner surrendered him stating the dog was aggressive, which is a sure sentence for euthanasia at an overcrowded shelter with few volunteers and a limited budget with which to operate.

“Now he’s on death row waiting to die,” the dog’s advocate posted on her social media page. “…saying he was horrible, saying he was mean, sentenced him to death with their lies.”

“He fought to survive against all odds! His only fault is trying to survive.”

Shelter notes state Matt is a very friendly dog, however the PVAC site does say he is “dog aggressive.” He has not been aggressive in the shelter.  An animal advocate has offered to sponsor a private training session.

“Matt (42221975) is at risk of euthanasia for being aggressive towards other dogs. He needs a live outcome by 7/17 at 6pm. Please email [email protected] if you can help.”

  1. WHY CAN’T WE HAVE MORE THAN A SAME DAY NOTICE SO WE CAN TRY TO SAVE THESE INNOCENT DEFENSELESS DOGS?! EVEN MIRACLES TAKE TIME!

    • Most animals at Palm Valley have no exposure because most rescues and many volunteers are banned due to attention being drawn on shelter manager. IF YOU WANT TO GET IMMEDIATE NOTICE ON ALL DOGS THAT ARE ALLOWED TO BE NETWORKED, AND ANY OTHER SHELTER, GO TO THEIR FB PAGES!!!!!
