Owner arrested after inflicting a ‘lifetime of abuse’ on his dog

In Westchester, New York, the owner of a four-year-old dog, who police say inflicted a “lifetime of abuse” on his pet, has been arrested and charged with aggravated animal cruelty.

Paul Paulino, 32, is alleged to have repeatedly choked and beat the dog named Lady. According to the SPCA of Westchester’s Humane Law Enforcement, the mini bull terrier had suffered a lifetime of abuse which also included being choked, lifted off the ground with a metal collar, having her nose rubbed into the concrete and being punched, kicked and struck with a leash.

Lady also suffered from a broken vertebrae in her neck.

The Pound Ridge Police Department had been alerted to the situation in November and removed the dog from Paulino’s possession and began veterinary attention.

“It’s unimaginable that someone could do such a thing to a defenseless animal,” said Shannon Laukhuf, SPCA Executive Director. “Lady is such a sweet, happy dog even after all she’s been through. We look forward to finding her the loving home that she deserves.”
