In Oklahoma City, a sergeant and deputy at the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office didn’t expect this unusual rescue for one of our wildlife friends on Friday. An owl found himself stuck upside down – stuck in a barbed wire fence.

When a call came in about an injured animal near NE 50th, Sgt. John Rose and Deputy Tanner Smith arrived at the scene to find the owl stuck upside down in the fence unable to free himself.

“Just goes to show, deputies never know what they’ll run into while on shift. We received a call to respond to an injured animal and this is what they found. It’s an owl stuck upside down on a barbed wire fence in the 21000 block of NE 50th. Sgt. John Rose and Deputy Tanner Smith managed to free the owl and took it to the OKC Animal shelter. It will be headed to Wildcare where they will ensure it’s back (right side up) on its perch in no time,” the sheriff wrote on the organization’s Facebook page.

The bird of prey was first taken to the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter and will be transferred to WildCare Oklahoma where he will be rehabilitated and freed.

All’s well that ends well. Watch those fences little guy.
