A handsome old boy, eight years of age, lost his family, and his home, when a landlord said that he had to go. His name is Rex and he has been at the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Downey facility in California since March 20.
On Saturday, the Downey Animal Care Center wrote:
Rex is an stoic eight year old brown neutered male German Shepherd who was discarded at the Downey Shelter on March 20th because his former owner’s landlord denied them the right to have a dog. Weighing ninety-two pounds, Rex has a low/medium energy level and walks perfectly on leash.
According to the shelter, Rex has a gentle disposition and he gets along well with other calm dogs. They added:
When he came in he was missing a good amount of his fur and with continued good nutrition most of it has already grown back. Rex is a loving indoor pet for a family living in a private home.

Seemingly an 8 year old dog has been with the owner several years and all of a sudden the “landlord” won’t allow the dog? Any landlord that did this to me would have a fight on their hands and If I didn’t prevail I would be looking for a new home for me and MY DOG! I am sick of this excuse, since the dog was missing hair when surrendered, it doesn’t sound like the owner was taking care of the dog anyway. I hope this beautiful boy finds a loving home. He didn’t deserve the last owner!
