One year ago, a dog was taken in at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh, New York. In the weeks and months that have passed, not one person has bothered to inquire about him.

Last week, the animal shelter staff reached out via social media to alert Facebook followers about the plight of six-year-old Leonidas, writing:

Leonidas was brought into the shelter one year ago today. 💔 Zero people have even inquired about him.

Leonidas is described as an intelligent, attentive dog who knows how to perform several tricks. Leonidas is described as dog-friendly, but the shelter would like to see him join an adult-only home because he has some resource guarding issues that need to be safely managed.

Somewhere out there is the right person to give Leonidas the home that he needs. If you are interested in learning more, please contact the shelter at (516)785-5220 for more information.

I think he is very handsome, probably an even better looking dog in the flesh. I have a four year old son, or I would take him.
