Old dog at busy animal control

Update 1/7/19: Per Petharbor, Atlas has been rescued!!

Is there any hope of better days for an old dog who is being held at a busy California animal control agency? The dog, dubbed Atlas, has been at the Riverside County Animal Control – City of Rialto facility, since December 29. Sadly, this senior dog has everything working against him…he’s an old dog, he’s a black dog, and he is a pit bull. Will it be three strikes, you’re out for this homeless senior boy?

Saving Atlas

Few people walk into an animal shelter seeking out old dogs. Unfortunately, black dogs are usually bypassed as well. This senior boy’s only hope is the kindness of strangers who want to help in some way, shape or form. You can do your part by taking a moment to network this article with Atlas’ adoption information. Networking is known to save lives!

Atlas deserves the chance to live out the remainder of his life with someone who will show him what it means to be loved. Someone who will offer him good food, a soft bed and the kind touch of a hand.

  1. This poor elderly dog needs the help of strangers now more than ever in his life. He looks like he could add on some weight, but seems like a very happy, obedient dog. Give Atlas your love and show him what a true forever home can be like. Even fostering will help this dog get into the right home for him. Give him a chance and please network for him.People in CA need to step up and help these helpless seniors who only want a soft bed, good food and a loving family. He will give you much more back in love and devotion.

  2. We have adopted 2 “black dogs” who are total cuddle bugs. One Is blind and doesn’t know it!!! The other is a senior and she acts like a puppy!!!
I hope this precious, precious, precious senior treasure gets a chance to be welcomed into a wonderful furever family where he will be a beloved family member……. All he needs is one “YES”…….
Nothing is more tragic than an elderly treasure, betrayed by their family, who dies in the shelter alone, afraid and, worst of all unloved……

  3. Just the look in his elderly eyes is enough to make a person cry!!! The two gentle ladies that posted above have said it all!!! I hope that someone will take a chance on the old fellow Even though Californians are the most compassionate of Human Beings…..

  4. Please someone in the area please help this sweet old dog he deserves to live his life out in a safe loving home if you are worried about vet bills because he’s old maybe we could start a go fund me page to help who ever adopted him I would certainly pick in to see this beautiful old dog get to live out his days praying and sharing

  5. I can only endorse the other comments. Unfortunately I am not in a position to offer Atlas the loving home that he needs and deserves, but it doesn’t have to be a local person, I can contribute a little to transportation fees to a loving home out of the area. There must be someone out there that could give this fine chap a loving , forever home!

  6. Happily, dear sweet Atlas is now at Love Leo Rescue, but he still needs a forever home! Please help this little senior sweetie!

  7. Does anyone know if Atlas a/k/a William has been adopted from Love Leo? Someone made a commitment to adopt him, but it looks like he is still there.
