A mother dog and her badly neglected puppies were abandoned outside of a Leesburg, Florida, veterinary hospital on Mother’s Day. The shepherd mix and her four puppies were left in a cage outside of the business at some point during the night…they were found on Sunday, reports Fox 35 Orlando.
Lake County Animal Shelter Director Whitney Boylston told the news agency:
Leaving dogs alone outside of a business, even when it’s a vet’s office, really isn’t appropriate.
Though the mother dog appears to be relatively healthy, her puppies are suffering with an uncomfortable skin infection and they are malnourished. The abandoned family will be transferred to a rescue agency and nursed back to health before being offered for adoption.

I know it’s not appropriate, but I kind of understand it. People have more confidence in veterinary offices than they do in shelters that are often “kill”
shelters.
Also, beware–MANY shelters HIDE the fact that they kill thousands of animals each year (as much as 90% of the animals they take in). I know this for sure because that is what the Hawaiian Humane Society in Honolulu does.
