In Manistee County, Michigan, a man is accused of animal cruelty after he is alleged to have rushed home and stabbed his dog – and then assaulted his girlfriend.  Jackson Mackey, 39, has been charged with animal cruelty, possession of methamphetamine and several other charges.

According to UpNorthLive, Michigan State Troopers were dispatched to the domestic incident and the animal cruelty complaint on December 14. Mackey’s girlfriend told authorities he allegedly came home and went to the bathroom and stabbed the dog. He then came out of the bedroom where the girlfriend confronted him and asked him to leave at which time he allegedly assaulted her. She was not injured.

Mackey left with the injured dog, and police were able to track down his van and found the dog bleeding from a chest wound. Methamphetamine was also discovered in the vehicle.

The dog was rushed to a nearby veterinary hospital where he has been treated and expected to make a full recovery.
