A Marietta man, who poured scalding water from a kettle, was sentenced late last week to prison. Justin Michael Crandall will spend four years in prison and a fifth year on probation after pleading guilty to one count of aggravated animal cruelty.

According to AJCNews, Crandall was granted first-offender status – his record will be sealed once he completes his sentence and doesn’t get into anymore trouble with the law. In addition, he is banned from owning, working with or volunteering with animals until his probation period is over.

Crandall was arrested last year after he was alleged to have maliciously caused pain and suffering to a brown and white mixed breed dog named Anastasia. The dog suffered severe burns to her back and side and suffered permanent disfigurement.
