A Kentucky man who admitted to taping up and beating a puppy is headed to court this week. As reported by WPSD News, 32-year-old Jayce Bryant will be in court on Thursday to face charges stemming from the abuse dealt to a puppy named Hero.

The puppy was discovered in Western McCracken County with tape around his muzzle and legs – Bryant claims that the pup bit him and then got away from him before the tape could be removed. The pup was not only bound in tape, but had multiple fractures in his tail.

Bryant is facing a charge of torturing a dog for the incident – the pup is recuperating, emotionally and physically, from the abuse. He is said to be gaining weight and doing well. Bryant could face up to five years behind bars if he is convicted.
