A Kentucky man has been given a lengthy prison sentence for the torturous death of a dog. According to multiple news sources, Jeremy Lawton, of Lexington, was sentenced to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2017 crime.

Lawton is accused of shooting a dog 11 times and leaving the grievously injured dog underneath a house to die. As reported by WYKT News, Lawton was a convicted felon at the time that he shot the dog.

Lawton pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including: torture of an animal, bail jumping, convicted felon in possession of a handgun and being a persistent felony offender.
