In Alameda County, California, the man who beat his puppy for defecating in the house will spend time in jail. Joshua Tadduc, 24, plead guilty to felony animal cruelty for brutally beating nine-month-old Aaliyah back in September 2017 and was sentenced on Thursday.

According to the East Bay Times, Tadduc told authorities he wanted to discipline his pit bull puppy, and at the time yelled at her “to go to timeout.” Instead the frightened puppy ran away to the third story of the house. Tadduc pulled her down the steps by her back legs, at which time Aaliyah turned and bit the man’s finger and escaped again. The dog fled and hid in the bathtub, when again Tadduc dragged her down the steps again by her back legs, into the garage and beat her in the face with a wooden pole.

The next day, roommates found the badly injured puppy and rushed her to a veterinarian.

“Allie suffered from an open fracture of her temporomandibular (TMJ) joint, a missing tooth and extensive bruising across her back and hindquarters. She was rushed to the East County Animal Shelter in Dublin which initiated an animal cruelty investigation by officials.”

Prosecutors stated Allie had bruises over her entire body, including the inside of both ears. She underwent six-hours of surgery to repair and completely reconstruct her jaw.

In addition to the jail time, Tadduc forfeits ownership to Allie, is banned from owning any pets for the next three years, will be placed on three years’ felony probation and will attend 26 anger management classes and additional counseling. He must also donate $5,000 to the Alameda County Animal Shelter and pay for all veterinary and boarding bills for Allie – including the forensic veterinary review of the dog’s case.

  1. Well it’s about freaking time they are punishing asshole animal abusers and thank you for making him pay for everything. Just hoping he gets the same treatment in prison so he can feel what he did to that poor dog. Glad Allie was taking care of.

  2. It sounds like judges are finally getting smart about sentencing these criminals. It could have been a longer ban on owning animals but it’s a start. Now it just has to be enforced!

  3. He tried to appear reasonable and humane by saying he told her to go to “time out.” Then he beat her to smithereens for running away from him. He’s a liar.
