An Illinois man is wanted for fatally shooting his puppy in front of multiple people, including a child. As reported by the International Business Times, on May 25, 43-year-old Kenneth C. Jennings allegedly shot his German shepherd mix puppy in the head because the pup had tried to go over to meet a group of people standing nearby.
Witnesses told the Lake County Sheriff’s Office that the man was “furious” that his pup had wandered over to the people, so he dragged the puppy to a yard, pulled a gun, and shot the pup in front of everyone. Jennings claimed that he was trying to prevent his pup from biting someone, but residents in the area describe the puppy as “very friendly.” Neighbors claim that Jennings has previously killed four dogs – one for “barking too much.”
Jennings is wanted by the police – he is charged with level 6 felonies including “torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal and criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon.”
