In Las Vegas, Nevada, the man who was seen on video punching and beating up a dog was sentenced earlier this week to a prison sentence of five to 13 years. Daman Holmes videoed himself abusing the gray and white pit bull with a closed fist.

According to the Las Vegas Review, the disturbing video occurred last September and was intended as a threat to Holmes’ ex-girlfriend and her family.

Investigators said Holmes admitted he “has a violent temper,” and turned over the two videos of the dog being beaten admitting he was the man in the video.

During court proceedings, Holmes pleaded “guilty but mentally ill”to aggravated animal cruelty and stalking. Holmes has been diagnosed with PTSD, ADHD, paranoid delusions and major depression. During his incarceration, Holmes will be treated for mental illness. District Judge William Kephart stated he handed down the maximum possible sentencing on the animal cruelty charge.

The dog has since been rehabilitated and adopted.
