A man in Gibsonton, Florida, is accused of a brutal knife attack on his family’s dog following an argument with his dad. As reported by the Tampa Bay Times, Marley, a five-year-old pit bull, was repeatedly stabbed by 34-year-old Robert Abbott, Jr. on Saturday.
When deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrived to residence on California Street, they discovered that the suspect had barricaded himself in a bathroom. After negotiations, Abbott exited the room and surrendered.
The injured dog was taken away by Hillsborough County Animal Services and is receiving veterinary care – no word on the dog’s current condition.
Abbott is being held on $8,000 bail – he is facing charges for aggravated animal cruelty and resisting arrest without violence.
