A Wisconsin man has stated that he never intended for the newborn pups that he dumped in the trash to die. The puppy dumper, identified as 56-year-old Robert Wild, was arrested by the Marshfield Police after someone reported hearing “kittens” crying in a garbage can outside of a house.

In a release about the cruel incident, the Marshfield Police Department stated:

Upon arrival, it was learned that the sound was coming from 8 newborn puppies which had been discarded in a garbage bag and trash can at 813 E 4th St. The bag was removed and the puppies were transported to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter.

Contact was made at the residence and a 56 yr old Marshfield male was arrested and transported to the police department after admitting to discarding the puppies.

Inside Edition recently caught up to Wild – who happened to be trying to get rid of more puppies. Before identifying herself as someone with the television show, Investigative Correspondent Lisa Guerrero asked Wild if he was breeding dogs – he responded that the pups were the result of “an accident.”

Shortly thereafter she told him who she was and asked him about the day old puppies who had been thrown away. He explained:

“I didn’t think they were going to die because in the back of my mind I knew I was going to go back and get them out of there.”

He added that he regretted his decision and that it was “really stupid.”

The miracle puppies, who were found before they froze or suffocated to death, are “thriving” at the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter and they will soon be available for adoption.

The man who dumped them is facing two misdemeanor counts of intentionally mistreating animals.
