A Delaware man is facing multiple charges after a dead dog, and a distressed dog, were discovered inside of a hot car which had been parked for an “extended period of time” on Tuesday. According to multiple sources, by the time that help arrived, one dog had died from heat stroke – the surviving dog was muzzled and locked in a “makeshift” cage.

The dogs’ owner, identified as 41-year-old Lamonte Jordan, was arrested and he is facing multiple animal cruelty charges. Delaware Division of Public Health Office of Animal Welfare officers seized the surviving dog – that dog’s condition has not been released.

Jordan has already been released on bail.

It should go without saying, but each year countless dogs unnecessarily suffer and die because they are left inside of parked cars. Even mildly warm days can result in deadly hot conditions inside of a parked vehicle. Please leave your pets at home!

If you see a dog locked in a parked vehicle, please reach out to the authorities for assistance.
