In Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, a man turned himself into authorities after admitting he had been “fishing for cats” using a meat baited hook. Kenny Rowles, 27, was arrested on Tuesday and taken to jail.
According to CbsNews, the disturbing details of animal cruelty began last month when a local rescue group in Plymouth found a young, stray cat with a hook in her mouth. That cat was lucky and volunteers continue to search the area where 15 cats were abandoned when their owners moved; for more baited hook feline victims.
Humane officers began investigating Rowles a month prior after receiving a call about a cat with a fish hook in its mouth. Officers went to the suspect’s home, and he admitted to putting meat on a fishing line and then dangling it from his back porch for cats. He bragged about it to neighbors – laughing at what he had done. People began to call in the disturbing details.
The cat that was caught had a three-prong hook in her mouth and survived surgery. She is reported to be making a full recovery.
Rowles faces aggravated cruelty and neglect of animals charges.His bail has been set at $100,000.

At last an appropriate bail ($100,000) for such a horrific crime. I can only hope that when this SOB goes to trial the judge will award a punishment commensurate with the bail (substantial jail time and a HUGE fine). Let’s see how much he laughs at that.
