A Florida man was arrested and is facing charges after 31 dogs and puppies were rescued from a home in Miami. According to multiple sources, officials acting on a tip visited 26-year-old Derrick Williams’ home on Tuesday and found dozens of dogs and puppies living in squalor.

NBC Miami reports that several of the dogs were malnourished and one puppy was dead – the police report added, “A number of the dogs were locked in cages full of feces and urine, as others were forced to lay on the hot cement with no shelter.”

The dogs seized from Williams’ residence were taken to an area animal shelter for care. Williams was arrested and he is facing multiple charges, including animal cruelty, animal cruelty with intent to kill or injure and confining an animal without providing food, water or exercise.
