A man has been arrested after the discovery of over 700 dogs, many badly neglected, at a suspected puppy mill in southern Georgia. As reported by WAFF News, 58-year-old Reason Craig Gray was arrested last Thursday after deplorable conditions were discovered on property in Berrien County.

Gray ran a business known as “Georgia Puppies,” and he was arrested after the Georgia Department of Agriculture conducted an inspection and found “inhumane” conditions. Sheriff Paulk, with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office wrote:

“There are many questions yet to be answered and one huge one is how this licensed pet dealer was allowed to have an operation with this many beautiful creatures to be able to populate to the point of being out of control and inhumane.”

The suspected puppy mill operator was booked in the Berrien County Jail pending charges for cruel treatment of these dogs and obstruction.

As reported by CBS News, Gray is among those on the Humane Society’s “Horrible Hundred 2018” list. The sheriff’s office is reviewing documents, including veterinary reports and information from the department of agriculture, to determine what charges Gray will face.
