A man in Oswego County, New York, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly starving his dog to death. As reported by Syracuse.com, 30-year-old Anthony Scott’s deceased German shepherd was discovered in a trash bag on February 20 – a necropsy on the dog’s body confirmed that it had died from starvation.

When the authorities went to Scott’s residence, they discovered more dogs who appeared to be suffering from neglect. The three dogs in Scott’s home were “housed in a small crate covered in their own feces.” The surviving dogs were removed from the residence and taken to Paws Across Oswego County for care.

On Monday, the rescue group made a public post about three dogs taken in from a neglectful situation. The post, presumably about the seized dogs, indicates that the dogs are gaining weight now that they are out of harm’s way and receiving care.

Scott had claimed that the deceased German shepherd stopped eating, and that he did not have the funds to take the dog to a veterinarian.  Scott is facing four counts of New York Agriculture and Markets Law 353 – overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance, reports Informnny.
