A Lubbock man, caught on video beating a six-month-old puppy, was sentenced to six-months in jail on Tuesday.  In a plea deal, Jaleen Tennison pleaded guilty to one count of felony animal cruelty, in exchange for the lighter sentence.

According to LubbockOnline, Tennison also pleaded guilty to a third-degree felony for evading authorities in a vehicle in exchange for five years of probation.

On April 21, 2017, Lubbock police responded to an animal cruelty call and met with a neighbor who had videoed Tennison kicking and throwing a six-month-old Rottweiler. Tennison repeatedly struck the puppy, kicked it and chased her. In one part of the video, Tennison grabbed the puppy by her collar and threw her 10-20 feet over a picket fence.

When interviewed, Tennison said he beat the dog after the pup bit him, and said he felt that had been the right way to handle the situation.  The injury on the man’s arm, however was not consistent with a dog bite.

The dog owner also complained he was not able to train the puppy because she “just lays around.”

The dog was seized and transferred to the Lubbock Animal Service where the dog underwent surgery for an old injury to her leg. The dog has since been in foster care and is reported to be doing fine.

  1. Do the same to this scum and that is the way I would handle it. I am very sick of these assholes who prey on animals. I just want them to get an internal disease and slowly rot in pain.
