Lost the shine in their eyes: What happens when people dump their dogs?

Rescuers are calling the dogs who have lost the shine in their eyes – “the Street Sisters”. The dogs had been roaming the streets of Dallas, Texas and scrounging for food; no one cared, until Feeling Fine Canine and Equine Rescue helped to bring the plight of the two strays to social media.

Tragically, this is what happens when people dump their dogs; their eyes look down and are too afraid to make contact with humans who have heartlessly betrayed them.

On Tuesday, the organization from Loxahatchee, Florida arrived in Dallas and have rented a car for the 16-hour journey back to the rescue with the Street Sisters.

“One INCREDIBLE rescue effort! So many things could have gone wrong and just didn’t. Our Dallas connections located the dogs on the streets. Caught them and kept them safe for 3 days until we could arrive,” the organization posted on their social media page. “…Tomorrow they will both be in my arms getting all the medical attention and loves these girls will need to become Feeling Fine Canines.”

  1. SMH: I don’t understand how anyone could abandon a furbaby…… my family always had animals and they were with us from their adoption or rescue until they left this Earth for Heaven…..

I truly believe that anyone who is deliberately cruel to others (people or animals) will burn in Hell forever for their cruelty…..

I hope and pray that these two wonderful little treasures are rehomed into loving furever families where they will be treated as the precious treasures they are!!!

  2. Thank God for rescuers like this who travel a distance to get abandoned/stray dogs to find them loving homes. Regain their trust and find forever homes for these defenseless dogs. This country needs to do more for homeless and abandoned animals who are left on the streets to wander aimlessly until caught or killed. by others. Our country must start to do more to help these animals and rescuers do their jobs.

  3. The photos of these two precious beautiful girls just broke my heart. I’ve been a follower and supporter of animal rescue work for many years now, and so thankful that I have not become jaded as I imagine is possible. My heart breaks for every new case I read but these girls just got to me. I really do hope and pray that the rescue team who have taken them in will be able to rehabilitate them so that they will no longer live in fear and be able to have a wonderful furever home together as a bonded pair. Street dogs are usually loners, but I feel these two were perhaps bonded prior to being abandoned. Thank yoinks to the rescue team who committed to them with the long haul travel to collect them, I’m sure you’ll leave no stone unturned in doing your utmost for these precious girls.

  4. Thank you so much for saving them. You can see that sadness in their eyes 🙁 I hate people more and more every day that do this.no Heart
