In Mandeville, Louisiana, a local man was arrested after he allegedly stabbed and beat a small dog with a fishing gaff for nipping a young child on Sunday. Matthew Forstall faces one count of aggravated animal cruelty, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday.

According to The Advocate, the child had been selling candy in the neighborhood when the small dog “properly restrained” on the porch of his home, when the pooch bit him. The child sustained a “minor injury” and told Forstall what happened.

Forstall, 29, who has been referenced as a relative of the child, went to the home where the dog lived and stabbed him with a fishing gaff. The dog was seriously injured. As of Tuesday, the dog was listed in “serious, possibly grave condition.”

Forstall has been released from jail after posting a $7,500 bond.

  1. I’m missing something BIG! Where was the owner while the dog was being stabbed???

If a brainless heartless LUNATIC showed up at my house to attack my dog, IT would be greeted with A VERY BIG SURPRISE!

Please let us know how the poor dog is doing and/or if donations are needed.
