Did you hear the one about a leashed steer led into Petco to test the “all pets welcome” policy?

“We decided to take a chance and call Petco ‘s bluff on the ‘ALL LEASHED PETS ARE WELCOME’ policy. The awesome crew at Petco – Atascocita did not disappoint!! They welcomed Oliver the African Watusi with open arms. The staff members here are always super friendly and courteous to us. We really enjoy coming to this location…our favorite Petco BY FAR!!,” Vincent Browning posted on Facebook about his more than pleasant experience on Monday at Petco with his leashed steer.

Shelly Lumpkin and Browning were pleasantly surprised as they led Oliver in with a halter around his head and using a rope as a leash. When Oliver entered, perhaps there were a few gasps of surprise, but the Texas sized pet was almost immediately greeted by store personnel who scratched Oliver right between his horns.

Oliver is owned and trained by Browning for shows and rodeos. It is estimated the big guy could weigh more than 1,600 pounds. Oliver has his own Facebook page where he announces the events he will be attending.

“We mean it when we say ALL leashed pets are welcome in our stores,” Petco posted on their Facebook page.
