The punishment for an Ohio couple who abandoned their dog in the cold last winter is minimal. The attorney for Alvaro Torres and his wife, Heather, calls their decision to leave their ailing dog in the woods in Willoughby, a “terrible lack in judgement.”
Alvaro told the judge presiding over the animal cruelty case that he “messed up,” when he and his wife left their pit bull mix, Lucy, in the freezing cold last December. The dog was left with a blanket and a crate, in an area where it was unlikely that she would be found.
The couple faces little punishment for their lack of judgement however. According to Fox 8 News, Alvaro Torres will spend just 4 days in jail for the crime which he pleaded guilty to. His wife will simply have to complete 40 hours of community service and pay restitution to the shelter.
The abandoned dog was taken to the Lake County Dog Shelter. She was provided with veterinary care and after recovering, she was adopted into a new home. Though Alvaro and Heather claim that Lucy had killed their other dog, there have been no signs of aggression in her since she was found and rescued.

4 DAYS THATS IT!? That’s a bunch of crap! Specially to put her out there in the freezing cold where nobody would find her they knew what they were doing they should have been punished way more than four days!!
They don’t deserve an animal!! They deserve a good ass beaten!
