Joshua was locked up on a back patio for six years. During that time, he was never allowed in the house, so during the cold winters he nearly froze to death, and in the summer, he thought his skin would burn off in the hot, unrelenting Texas sun.
Just one week ago, a neighbor spotted Joshua from outside the gate of an abandoned home. The gate had been locked, and no one was inside. Everyday the Good Samaritan waited for Animal Control to arrive; she repeatedly called, yet no one ever came. And finally, desperate to help, the woman broke the gate and freed Joshua from his living hell.
Joshua’s heartbreaking story is being told by Rescue Dogs Rock NYC who immediately volunteered to help.
“What did I do to deserve this tortured life? I was always obedient, tried so hard to please my family. I begged for anyone to show me kindness. I begged for food. I begged for water, but there were weeks I starved and I was so weak; I was so thirsty, longing for someone to help me and escape.” Stacey Silverstein, co-founder of the rescue organization wrote on social media.
And so for six long years, Joshua lived in solitary; closed off from the world and locked away from nearly all human interaction.
Rescued on Wednesday and rushed to an emergency veterinarian hospital, the staff hopes Joshua will survive; after all his new name means “life.” Sadly, his injuries present significant problems. Barely more than a skeleton, he weighs only 25-pounds which is at least 30 pounds underweight, his back has been broken, and his body has pressure sores all over it from sleeping on the cold concrete.

Why aren’t charges being pressed against the degenerate assholes who did this. I so wish there was a group of vigilantes that would find these people and do everything to them they did to this poor dog and I would pay to have a front row seat and laugh at them the whole time. I wish them hell on earth and an excruciatingly long slow painful death. Karma do your job.

Joshua, you are in good hands and RDR of NYC will do all they can to make sure you not only pull through but are with a real family that will finally give you the love and comfort you have waited so many years for. Pray you pull through and that your owners see hell soon (and that would be too good for them).Hope the authorities can find the owners and arrest them.
Why can’t the rescuers find out who owned that house or lived there and treated that dog so badly and arrest them, or better yet with peer justice torture them like they tortured him..worthless pieces of crap..God, sometimes I hate people…especially fuckers like this!
His back legs had been broken? What other horrors beside that, the weather, no affection, and being nearly starved to death, has poor Joshua had to endure? Please, please, please, someone, put this scum through the same kind of torture they inflicted upon this innocent dog!
It would be great if the cops would do their jobs and track this vermin down to punish them, but we all know that won’t happen.
