Jordan’s Way Charities to bring Christmas to needy shelter animals

There is no Christmas stocking for a shelter animal. While so many people are celebrating the holidays with friends and loved ones, getting gifts, enjoying the festivities, Christmas to a shelter animal is just another day of loneliness behind bars on a cement floor.

Jordan’s Way Charities is on a mission to change all that this Christmas.  They will be conducting their annual Christmas Run from December 15 to December 18, 2019 throughout Florida.

The charity was founded in 2018 by Kris Rotonda of Safety Harbor, Florida when his beloved dog Jordan succumbed to cancer in October.  Kris adopted Jordan from a shelter in Tampa where she had spent most of the first years of her life. He was devastated when she passed and wanted to do something to honor her memory and help other shelter dogs not as fortunate as Jordan.

This year, Jordan’s Way has teamed up with Purina and Chewy.com to bring Christmas to approximately fifty animal shelters and rescue groups by distributing dog and cat food, toys, and treats to struggling shelters. This is a monumental task and will be a huge benefit for area rescues as they struggle very hard all year round to feed the animals in their care.

Jordan’s Way will be donating 50,000 pounds of food and feeding approximately 5,000 animals during their four-day journey. Some of the shelters and rescues that will be benefiting this year include Jacksonville Humane Society, Pet Rescue by Judy, Your Humane Society SPCA, Orange County Animal Services, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, Candy’s Cats, Poodle and Pooch Rescue, Hound Haven, and many more.
