A Kansas man has been sentenced to jail time for repeatedly running over a dog who had escaped from his yard. According to multiple sources, earlier this month, 20-year-old Cole Ford Carter was sentenced to a year in jail for killing Benji, a 15-pound mixed breed dog, in December 2018.
Carter previously pleaded guilty to the charges stemming from the Dec. 2 incident. A witness reported seeing Carter slam the dog to the ground, reports the Wichita Eagle. After throwing the dog down, and kicking him, Carter got into a vehicle and repeatedly ran the dog over.
As reported by the Associated Press, Carter’s motive for the cruel incident is unknown.
