Found dumped on a Worcestershire, United Kingdom farm, a suffering pup had been left in agony for what authorities stated had been more than 12-hours. An inspector with the RSPCA called the starved and beaten dog one of the worst cases of animal cruelty he had ever seen.
According to the ITVNews, the emaciated Saluki mix had been found by a local farmer near Bewdley Road North on April 5; the man cared for the dog until the RSPCA arrived. The dog was then rushed to a nearby veterinarian, and initially it was thought the dog had been hit by a car suffering from a fractured skull and broken back. A veterinarian examination, however revealed the dog had been beaten and likely just suffered in agony and fear for 12 hours – unable to move.
A decision to humanely euthanize the dog was made at the veterinarian hospital.
It is suspected the dog may have been used for hare-coursing (illegal sport of chasing and killing hares by sight hounds) the previous night and may have been left to suffer. The dog was microchipped, but his original owner had given the dog to a new owner living in the Bristol area.
A plea for the public’s help identifying the dog’s owner has been sent out via social media. The dog was a tri-color Saluki-lurcher mix, emaciated and had been wearing a thick red leather collar.
Help this poor dog get some justice.
