Human destruction continues…our wasteful society keeps claiming innocent victims and another has been discovered in Florida. On Friday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife agency posted an image of a deceased dolphin and explained what was discovered in the mammal’s body:

During the necropsy they found a 24-inch hose in the esophagus and forestomach of the animal.
This is the second stranded dolphin in one month’s time from this region that had ingested plastic

Garbage claims another victim

The male dolphin was recovered last week from Fort Myers Beach in Big Carlos Pass. The wildlife agency offers advice if a dolphin is found on or near shore:

Call FWC’s Wildlife Alert at 888-404-3922 to allow trained experts to respond. Please don’t push the animal back into the water as it can delay examination and treatment and often results in the animal re-stranding in worse condition.

We must do better to protect animals – both on and off the land. Properly dispose of trash. Reduce single use plastic consumption. See something that needs to be discarded? Please take a moment to pick it up and transfer it to a garbage receptacle.
