Houdini: Frightened dog too scared to make eye contact

In an urgent notice from the Orangeburg County Animal Control in South Carolina, Houdini is in dire need of rescue. The youngster was not named Houdini because of his ability to escape; he earned his name because he had the uncanny ability to disappear whenever Animal Control officers arrived.

Last week, Houdini was finally captured, and he is terrified avoiding all eye contact with anyone.

” There is no aggression just fear. Upon arrival, he would only eat his food after everyone had left the shelter. Now he will eat while people are there. And the voices and faces he sees on a regular basis are graced with a small glimpse of that beautiful face,” the staff posted on their Facebook page hoping to help this boy find a person to love.

Urgent!!!! Houdini is not named Houdini because of his escape skills. He is called Houdini because he had an uncanny ability to disappear when Animal Control came. He was finally caught last week. And he is terrified in here..he turns his head to avoid eye contact. There is no aggression just fear. Upon arrival, he would only eat his food after everyone had left the shelter. Now he will eat while people are there. And the voices and faces he sees on a regular basis are graced with a small glimpse of that beautiful face. But he has a very long way to go as he learns to trust humans. But he is going to be a beautiful companion for someone. Please message us if you are a rescue and can help. He will be Rescue only. He needs an experienced person to bring him around. And don’t forget that pledges will help.

Sadly, Houdini was a long way to go until he trust humans, but surely he wants to become a loyal friend. At this time, Houdini can only be rescued by an approved organization because he needs an experienced person to help him become a wonderful canine citizen.

Be the voice for those who cannot speak. Share Houdini’s plight with rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
