Horribly matted dog found – somebody once loved him

This week, a horribly matted dog was found  in St. Louis, Missouri. The dog’s fur was so matted that it was impossible to determine the gender. On Thursday, Stray Rescue of St. Louis posted images and wrote:

This dog just came in and has got to be one of the worst (if not THE worst) cases of matting and neglect we’ve ever seen. The entire clinic has filled with the smell of ammonia from this poor, miserable soul. We are going to sedate (him or her, we’re not sure yet) so we can free this dog from its own prison.

After the dog was sedated, a collar and bandana were discovered…evidence that at some point in time, somebody loved this dog. The rescue agency wrote:

This dog is a little boy, we have named him Miles. Under all his fur, we found a collar and bandana. At one time in his life, he was loved. Can’t wait to show him love again.

He's a little boy

Unfortunately, little Miles did not have a microchip, so the story about how he came to be in such poor condition may never be known. Was he stolen? Lost? It may always be a mystery. However, he is now safe and cared for and undoubtedly he will have a new, loving home in the near future.

Check out Miles after he was shaved!
