A homeless senior dog in Quincy, Michigan, tucks himself in with blankets each night at the Humane Society of Branch County. The 12-year-old dog, named Scooter, has been at the animal shelter ever since his owner died.

The senior dog’s Petfinder biography reads:

Scooter is looking for a miracle. His owner died and the family brought him to the shelter. He is about 12 yrs old and has an old injury so his walks is a little funny but it doesn’t stop him at all.

Please consider Scooter. I just went back to lock up and say good night to all of the dogs. I took Scooter’s picture because every night he tucks himself in just like in the photo.

Shelter staff hopes that someone will find it in their heart to give Scooter a new home. On Friday evening, a post was made on the senior dog’s behalf:

I just went back to say goodnight and lockup. This is Scooter. He tucks himself in at night. I pray someone adopts this boy soon…

Will you please help Scooter? You can lend him a hand by networking this article with his adoption information. Petfinder link here.

  1. That poor furbaby…… Absolutely disgusting……. How can someone do this and still like what they see in the mirror looking back at them??? Of course the relatives took everything that was of value in the house……

It’s absolutely heartbreaking how awful and callous some individuals can be to defenseless animals…… who were supposed to be treated as treasured family members……

I can’t understand how anyone would abandon a treasured senior family member……. How can anyone be so cruel to a loving family member when they are most in need of love and support??? Precious Treasure Scooter, your life matters, I am very sorry that you were failed so horribly by your human’s relatives……..

I would give anything to have had more time with our treasured MacKitty…… Our precious furbabies are family members and are with us forever (from adoption day to their last breaths of life)…….. Whilst I hate seeing senior treasures in a shelter (@ least they are in a place that is protected from predators, fed, watered, and hopefully rehomed), they have a chance for a new furever home, where they will be treasured family members…….

It is tragic to think of abandoned seniors dying in the shelter alone, afraid and worst of all unloved……

    • My heart is broken to see this orphaned sweet dog tucked in his bed wrapped up in his blanket. I cannot imagine the family who would not want their deceased relative beloved pet. Hopefully a kind soul will see this and bring him home with them so he can live out his senior days with love. We have four adopted dogs, the last one being older when he arrived. Thank You for taking this adorable photo and putting it on facebook so this sweetie has the chance for love and happiness once again. again.

  2. Well SAD TO SAY!!!! THE WENER OF THIS LITTLE GUY SURE IN THE “DEPTH’S OF HELL” didn’t have a Family with Compassion or EVEN Feelings for Their Dead Relation:: He would NOT HAVE WANTED THIS FOR HIS LITTLE DOG!!! I HOPE a RESCUE will Take HIM IN!!! Covers Himself up!!! OMG
