At the Lancaster Animal Care in California, heartbroken Freddy was surrendered to the shelter by his owner, just because he was too old. What has become an all too often excuse for irresponsible owners who seem to have no trouble leaving their loyal dogs behind at a shelter where the odds are high for euthanasia, not so for volunteers who devote much of their time to helping these seniors.
“He made me cry today. Sometimes I walk into the shelters and leave so heartbroken,” posted shelter volunteer Sal Valdepena on Sunday. “He can barely see because of his cherry eyes. When he heard my voice he jumped up. He loves human affection. He needs help and fast. Come on village, let’s share him.”
Freddy is 13-years-old and has bilateral cherry eyes. He is not listed on the website as available for adoption which is troubling. A foster home will save his life.
“I’m sad and I’m all alone… I thought when you got old family was supposed to look out for you?
I don’t want to die. So please share for my life. Believe in me. I am a special boy.”

That poor, precious treasure…… my instinct is to want to snuggle him and reassure him that the world is “OK”……
Has anyone contacted Frosted Faces or No Paws Left Behind?
I don’t know who to contact at either group, just that they can (& often do) help with seniors and medically fragile cases…..
I hope a rescue group can save Freddy. He deserves to be treated as a beloved family member for however long a time he has left and not die in the shelter alone, afraid and (worst of all) unloved…….
WTF is wrong with people??? Most of us want our furbabies to be with us for as long as possible and we savor each and every day our precious treasures are with us……
This so called family who gave up Freddy has reserved places in Hell waiting where they will burn forever for their cruelty…… Do they really think there is a long line of potential adopters for an elderly, blind furbaby???
That’s exactly what I am thinking … wth is wrong with people today. How can any person walk away from such a precious baby after having him so long, or even having one day?? This NOT the way things were ever intended to be. I know t for sure. I live so far away and it’s so hard when I read a story like this. Is there some one to foster him???? Anyone? It does a heart good to to save a soul. Is there a rescue there that can pull him. Please give him the second chance he deserves! I am crying!
I cannot believe this dog was made to live with those eyes for that many years… if you ask me that is cruelty and neglect and the owners should be charged !!!!!!!!! When he gets a new home you bet those eyes will be addressed and FIXED !!
