Heartbreaking cruelty as police investigate small dog set on fire

In Newark, New Jersey, police are investigating a heartbreaking cruelty act against a small dog beaten and set on fire. The despicable situation occurred on Friday night in the vicinity of Columbia Avenue and Plymouth Street. Authorities need the public’s help.

According to NJ.com, area residents heard a group of teenagers knocking over garbage cans approximately 3:00 a.m. On Saturday morning, neighbors saw damaged cars and found the remains of a small dog had been beaten and set on fire; his burned fur left on the sidewalk.

Police state the dog had been tortured and have now discovered video from area surveillance cameras along the block and can possibly identify the culprits.

“It’s very disturbing to find out that someone would do this to a small dog that looks like it was beaten and burned,” Newark Police Director Anthony Ambrose told ABC news media reporters.
