In North Little Rock, Arkansas, a young and friendly golden retriever continues to fight for his life after he was shot in the head twice on private property. The dog, named Sol has been at a veterinary hospital for the last three days since the incident occurred.

According to KarkNews, the report from the North Little Rock Police stated a witness saw a man yelling at the dog and then taking point blank aim at the dog with his gun in the driveway. Children were with the dog and witnessed the disturbing incident.

Estefany Perez is Sol’s owner and stated the dog had been on her best friend’s property at the time and would never hurt anyone.

“Sol was shot twice this morning for no good reason. He got out of my best friend’s yard and went over to her neighbor’s to play with the kids. When he was done, he came back to my best friend’s driveway. Sol was barking and another neighbor yelled at him to shut up or he’ll give him a reason to shut up. This man went back into his house and got his 9 MM and shot Sol twice. One in the head missing his brain and one that punctured his neck and grazed his back. This man shot her dog with children out in their yard playing!! Discharging a firearm within city limits, cruelty to animals, endangering the public…he should be arrested right?”

Sol is only nine-months-old, and the bullet lodged in his head is inoperable. An update on Sol’s condition was posted Tuesday evening; his prognosis is looking better, however he may need to have his eye removed.

“Thank you all so so much for your endless love & support and a huge thank you for everyone at Arkansas Veterinary Emergency and Specialists for taking such sweet care of Sol. You guys really went above and beyond for us & his soul can tell.

We couldn’t have made it this far without all of your love, support, prayers, positive vibes & donations! We truly appreciate everyone of you!!

I think Sol will be coming home soon!!”

Police have been investigating and reported interviewing a suspect although no arrests have yet to be made.
