A goat that had been destined to be slaughtered for food was found on a Bronx street Saturday morning. The lucky little guy had been wandering on Locust Avenue when police officers spotted him and quickly rounded him up.

According to AbcNews, the lucky little goat, dubbed Genesis by New York City Animal Care Centers, where he was taken for a medical check up, will now have a storybook life. Yes, this adorable white “kid” was turned over to Skylands Animal Sanctuary in New Jersey.

And if that doesn’t make you smile, there’s more. On Wednesday, a lamb had made his way along the Gowanus Expressway during the morning rush hour. Along came an off-duty U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer who helped NYPD and Good Samaritans round him up also.

Now it would seem the rescued goat and lamb can tell their new friends and neighbors about their near death experiences and from this day on – live their storybook lives at a place where they are safe and loved.
