‘Gage’ trying not to be the saddest dog ever after he was returned

Gage thought he had found his own slice of heaven; a family came into the Humane Society of Marion County earlier this week, pointed to him and told the shelter staff Gage was going home. Unfortunately, the  best-laid plans of dogs and adopters often go awry.

“Sadly poor Gage was returned today – less than 24 hours and here he sits…he did not adjust well with the horses – he was timid and scared of them,” the organization posted on their Facebook page.

By no means did Gage get aggressive with the horses, but to a dog, horses are really big, and Gage was scared. Can we blame him? Of course not, but it’s been a long time since this boy has had a family, and he needs someone with patience to help him make the transition.

Please share Gage’s plight with family, friends and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives, and Gage needs that special someone who will help him become the best canine citizen he can be. Dogs don’t come with “one size fits all directions” – look at his face and see his disappointment. We can do better for this dog, so please share his story.

  1. Couldn’t they have given Gage more time to adjust?! There is no MAGIC! Obviously–they didn’t deserve this beautiful dog!
