A funeral is being held for 27 dogs who were found dead inside of a home in Hampstead, Maryland. According to WMAR News, the public ceremony will take place in Reisterstown on Thursday morning – the cremated remains of the dogs will be buried at Baltimore Humane Society Memorial Park beginning at 10 a.m.
The deceased dogs were discovered in April at a rental house located at 4302 Black Rock Road- two individuals, who are accused of operating an illegal dog breeding operation, are facing multiple charges. John J. Roberts, 49, and Laura S. Filler, 55, have been charged with more than 100 counts of animal cruelty.
The conditions inside of the residence have been described as deplorable – 27 additional dogs were found alive at the property, and some were reunited with owners thanks to microchips.
Animal welfare advocates hope to see Roberts and Filler receive the maximum possible sentence for their actions…the case has been called one of the worst cruelty situations ever encountered in the county.
