A foster home is needed for a dog whose leg was amputated after she was found with severe injuries. On Monday, Dekalb County Animal Services reached out for help for the dog, who has been dubbed Emma.

Emma is the epitome of resilience we see in our animals every single day. Now, she needs our help. Emma is in immediate need of a foster home so that she can rest and recover as quickly and painlessly as possible. Can you help?

According to the animal welfare agency, Emma was struggling to walk alongside a road when a good Samaritan noticed her and took action. The shelter writes:

A good Samaritan noticed her and brought her into our care for immediate medical attention. Upon arrival, our clinic manager scooped her up and carried her in her arms. With every step of the way she assured her we were here for her. Emma had severe wounds to her shoulder and back end likely caused by blunt force trauma.

Adding:

The clinic surrounded her with love an affection, and Emma smiled the whole way through. Due to the extent of her injuries, our veterinarian made the difficult decision to amputate her leg and she is now in recovery.

Can you assist Emma?

On Tuesday morning, the shelter updated Facebook followers with Emma’s condition:

Emma’s amputation was completed yesterday and she is doing well! She is currently recovering in our clinic but would much rather be in a foster home of her own.

Residents in and around Dekalb County, Georgia, can reach out to the shelter to learn more about becoming a foster. To foster Emma fill out this form >>> http://www.dekalbanimalservices.com/volunteer-or-foster/foster
