A former bait dog, who has been held for over 700 days at a Syracuse, New York, animal shelter, has finally been given the second chance that he has been patiently waiting for. Jack Sparrow, aka Jack, will be living with a couple who fell in love with him after reading a story published on CNY Central.
CNY SPCA Humane Educator Dee Schaefer tells the news agency that the connection was immediate, “Jack was just leaning into the woman’s chest, just getting his ears scratched and every single one of us knew this was going to be the right home for this dog.”
Jack needed to join a home where he would be the only pet, and his new owners fit the bill, recently losing their pet and just now ready to have a new one become part of their family. On Monday morning, the animal shelter alerted Facebook followers about Jack’s new family:
We announced this morning that Jack has found his home. Thank you to all who shared, CNYCentral.com, Classic Rock 96.9 WOUR, and all of the other media outlets that shared his story! Thank you to all of our supporters who shared his story. We will miss him, but the tears we cry are tears of joy.
