Florida teen adopted new dog one day after his pet died in hot car

In Tallahassee, Florida, a 19-year-old teen adopted a new dog from an animal shelter one day after he lied to personnel about how his dog died.  On Wednesday Angelo Klironomos, 19, was arrested and faces a first degree misdemeanor for animal cruelty after his dog died inside of a hot car.

According to WtxlNews, the Florida State University Police Department had been dispatched to a dog found unresponsive inside of a hot car on June 26. The dog’s owner had just left with the dog and brought the pit bull mix, named Stella, to a veterinary hospital. Witnesses stated Stella had been left alone in the hot car for at least 20 minutes. Temperatures outside ranged from 93 to 95 degrees that day.

The veterinary hospital who treated Stella stated the dog’s temperature was over 110 degrees – a dog’s normal temperature is between 99 and 102.5. Stella’s condition “was indicative of a living thing being left inside a closed object with no airflow in the sun for an extended amount of time.”

Documents filed with the court are asking that Klironomos be banned from adopting any pets since the next day he went to a shelter, lied and adopted another dog.

Rest in peace Stella.
